The MZ arts center at Bochum university is a center for personal activities in photography, graphics/etching, sculpture, music and theatre. There are no classes and credits, but studios and advice for people who want to try out.

At the Boston Museum of Fine Arts around 1989/90, Heidi Träbert enjoyed drawing classes given by Leila Joy Rosenthal. After the family returned to Bochum, that is since the early 1990es, she has learned graphics, etching and printing (learning by doing!) in the MZ etching workshop guided by Barbara Grosse, and she later on also took up photography / photo laboratory work at the MZ photo section.

Rat

"Dreizehn Möglichkeiten, Landschaft zu betrachten" (2001) ("Thirteen ways of viewing landscape")
In the Summer of 2002, she had her first single-artist exhibition,
"Zeichen und Strukturen" ("Signs and structures"), presenting etchings and photography at the Musisches Zentrum of the university.
"KulturLandschaftIndustrie" ("CultureLandscapeIndustry") Graphics exhibition by MZ artists at Heinrich-Morgner-Haus, Soest (2002)
"Raum der Stille" ("Quiescent space") (installation and performance, with Grit Hömke) and exhibit of panoramic photographs of the university, at the MZ Open festival of the MZ, July 2004 (plus participation in the photo exhibitions "Deutsch" and "Selbstportrait" at the same occasion).
In 2005, Bochum university (RUB) celebrated its first 40 years. Heidi contributed to this by calligraphy and action painting performances.
From mid February to late April 2006, Galerie Wurm at Herne-Wanne exhibited a selection of Heidi's etchings.
